In a Pew Research survey centering on the national conventions they found that a majority of Americans are interested not in the candidates speeches, but in the parties overall platform. While interest in the conventions at large remain on par with previous elections a majority of people are focusing on the overall platform planks. For the Republican convention 52% are interested in the party platform compared to 44% that are interested in Mitt Romney's acceptance speech. For the Democratic convention 55% are most interested in the party's platform with 51% most interested in Obama's convention speech.
