At a campaign stop in Romney's home state of Michigan, he commented that this is the place that Ann and I were born and no one has asked to see our birth certificates. While Romney has stated that he believes the President was born in Hawaii this joke which makes the appeal to the so called "birthers" has caused a stir through the media. An Obama campaign spokesperson has responded to the joke stating that these comments "directly enlist himself in the birther movement should give pause to any rational voter across America".
