Todd Akin the Missouri Senate candidate who came under intense scrutiny after making incendiary abortion comments will not attend the Repbulican National Convention in Tampa. While many top Republican leaders including Mitt Romney have asked him to step down from his Senate race Akin did not meet the voluntary drop out deadline yesterday. He now has until September 25th to drop out of his Senate race but would need a court order to do so. During an ABC interview on Good Morning America Akin hinted that dropping his Senate bid may be a possibility in the future, as of now Democrats and anti-abortion advocates are pressing for him to stay in the race.
