The GOP's abortion plank of their platform is still in draft form but is now coming under scrutiny for bearing a eerily similar likeness to Todd Akin's abortion stance. The abortion plank does not include exceptions for abortion in cases of rape, incest, or when the woman's life is in danger. While Romney stated his campaign approves abortions in the cases of safety for a woman's life, rape and incest this does not reflect when looking at the GOP platform. Akin a Missouri candidate for Senate caused a wave of backlash after he made comments about "legitimate rape" not leading to pregnancies.
