Reasons for Obama's Confidence

The President's stumbles and skids have not changed the confidence for a re-election that officials in Obama's Chicago campaign share.  Mark Halperin of Time shares the reasons Obama's officials have laid out for their sustained confidence:

  • Obama's campaign is getting their 'sporadics' to vote early at a higher rate
  • Jim Messina says two-thirds of early voters are women, youth, African-Americans, or Latinos.
  • The composition of the electorate: Minority voting is expected to reach an all-time high this election.
  • Obama's standing with undecided voters is at least good or better than Romney's
  • A combination of current leads in polling, early voting, and ground game make Nevada, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, and New Hampshire likely wins
